Post site redirects itself when writing post.

Hi,
I don't know how to write correctly (I'm not good in english), but ...

Everytime when I writing post and thist writing takes more time, page with post is automatically redirected to this page http://www.my-music-community.net/activity which makes me very ... angry(?). Is it some wrong settings in my profile or what?

Anoher thing, maybe related, is: How can I disable mail notifications about Activities? I want just notifications of post replies, not mails like this:

Andreas the German Whistler commented on Andreas the German Whistler's Board Post:

"replied to the forum topic: Re: The Star of The County Down - on penny whistle - the first tune ever here"

View this comment from Andreas the German Whistler's Board at http://www.my-music-community.net/musician-profile?mbpost=8.

Thanks!

My Music Community Net Team

And third, unrelated, thing: Allows this forum "Preview" of post replies? I.e. to see how will look post if I send it before I send it?

(This post was 2x redirected to http://www.my-music-community.net/activity while I wrote it. For example I wrote something, can't remember some word, so I opened next browser window with translator, found the right word, return to browser window with itemized post ... and I see to page with activities, not my itemized post)

Maybe it is redirected when "Activity" changed.
I had opened thread http://www.my-music-community.net/forum/the-compare-and-learn-challenge-group12/beginners-forum17/the-star-of-the-county-down-on-penny-whistle-the-first-tune-ever-here-thread7.1#postid-55 and it now suddenly redirected to http://www.my-music-community.net/activity. Probably because someone (Andreas for now?) did something and "activity" has changed.

Thanks.
I tried mark Don't Send Me "Board Comment" Notifications, because the first one sounds me like classic (phpbb) notification when new post in watched thread appears (and that's what I want).

Is it something similar?

http://wpmingle.com/forum/mingle-plugin-forums-group2/support-forum1/stopping-redirect-to-activity-thread1094/

But he talks about profile page, not forum/threads/posts pages.

The create post dialog box times out, my advice if you have a long post to compose, is to create the title put a small amount of text in the message body and submit the post. Then click edit to finish the submitted post.

It doesn't matter if I'll do "quick reply" or "edit" or just viewing thread for a long time. Behaviour is same. Different is only time how long until it changed to "activity" page (that's why I assuming that is not time dependent, but by another action - maybe by another user).

1- I dont know why this happen to you

2- it seems that it did not happen to anybody else

3- i know that mingle and mingle forum wich works additional to wordpress always when a mingle community user tries to go into the wordpress backend leads him to the activity site
3b- that means if you would try to folow a link to the admins entry of this wordpress installation, mingle would lead you to the activity site
3c- but u didnt do that, you just are writing a reply, right?
3d- here is hown i write a reply,
i just use the "Quick Reply: " box under the thread, after writing i press the submit button, so while i write its just as if i keep the site open

4- you must do something while you write, any shortcuts on the keyboard?

5- do you use a mac?
5b- does anybody else here use a mac?

6- anybody else an idea?

  • 1 - I don't know. I can confirm it on Safari6.0, Firefox15.0.1 (both on OS X 10.8.1) and on Safari on iOS5.1.1 (i.e. on all browser I have)
  • EDIT: Confirmed with Firefox 13.0.1 on Linux.
    EDIT2: Confirmed with MSIE9 on MS Windows7.

  • 3 - Yes, I just writing post or only read thread (writing is not necessary). Both for a long time. Sometimes it redirects after 1 minute, sometime after 20 minutes.
  • 4 - Nothing. Absolutelly nothing (comment: Now it redirects. I had to click on "back" button to return here. Now I pressed "g" and page redirects :-). g. gggggg. Nothing).
  • EDIT: Now I did one small test. This page I opened in Firefox (with disabled adblocks and noscript extensions) and leave it on background. After approx 6 minutes it redirects to activity page.
EDIT2: Second time, 6 minutes is over and page still holds on thi....DAMN... now it redirects. And it is window on background (i.e. no keyboard focus). Like this:
    Image

  • 5 - Yes
  • 6 - I can't stop thinking that this redirecting causes some javascript (ajax?) and time when it is redirected is dependent on some real wordpress activity. Just because if I remember it well, it doesn't happen on Firefox with enabled NoScript extension (and disabled scripts from this page)

EDIT: Seems that this redirect doesn't happen if I'm logged off.

Got a Problem? Just ask Pepe 😉

I checked this now with several browsers and accounts.
And yes, Mingle did redirect Users/Members to the Activity Site.
This did happen with every tested browser when a Member/User was viewing a thread for a longer time.
But this didnt happen when loged in with Admin Accounts.
So, yes there was a Problem.
So, i did do some Google search and went over all Mingle Settings, found the problem (i hope) solved it and it should not happen anymore now!
I did test it with Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera and Windows IE and with Admin and Test-User accounts and as far as i can say, the Problem is solved and the site dont redirect users anymore.

What about that Problem with "mail notifications about Activities" do you still have it or was you able to fix it with your settings in your profile?

Redirection solved on your side as well?

Notification:
My Testaccount (tester) dont get any notifications, i managed this over the settings.
My Admin account (pepe) is informed about everything, i managed this over the backend.
My Member account (Andreas the german Whistler) just get what i want, i managed this over the settings.

This works for me.

If you need help, i need to know:
- what do you get what you dont want to get and or
- what dont you get what you want to get
- or whatever the problem is 😉

Auto-redirecting seems to be fixed. Thank you very much.

About notifications:
When I subscribe thread, then I expect mail notification on new posts in subscribed thread.
(For example, this thread I have marked as "subscribed", but notifications sometime came, sometime not. Regardless if I visited this thread or not. It makes this feature useless. I'm doing periodic "polling" of this forum, because mail notification doesn't work reliably)
It would be nice if thread which I replied will be autosubscribed.
That's all. No more mail notifications.

I hope that it is happen by my wrong settings. But how can I set this

EDIT: Funny, I was notifiedon my own post in this thread (facepalm emoticon)
EDIT2: Maybe phpbb pamper me too much, but it is customary that link in mail notification points to notified post, not just link to thread from beginning.

about auto redirect: good, in am glad
about notifications: right now i am collecting the pro and contra of both mingle and phpbb, i also check which features are possible to add/change in mingle
if i decide to stay with mingle than ill find a way to fix the notification problem, there is always a way, one just has to find it 😉
for now i just can say, in my tester account i did the settings so that i dont get any notifications and i dont get any

if more problems accour, or features are missed, please tell me
